We are London-based and internationally minded.
Rooted in a family practice founded in 1955,
we carry forward a tradition of craftsmanship, mastery, and care —
not as nostalgia, but as a foundation for progress.
Architecture, interiors, environments, objects — shaped by craft and research.
We are advocates of design.
We believe design is not optional.
It is a necessary tool for progress — a mindset.
We are progressive because the world demands it.
Progress is not a style — it is a responsibility.
A way of asking better questions — and uncovering ingenuity.

Our work is shaped through mestizaje:
where history, craft, research, and innovation converge.
Ideas are not inherited as a whole,
they are tested, transformed, and reassembled with function and delight.
We see design opportunity everywhere:
in architecture, environments, and objects;
in what already exists — and what urgently needs to change.
We pursue uncompromising design.
Not louder. Not trend driven.
We design with respect for people and nature.
Not as a slogan, but as a practice.
We value creative curiosity over fixed answers.
We learn through making.
We refine through iteration.
We move forward — always.
We are driven by Vorwärtsdrang —
the urge to advance.
To push beyond the expected.
To shape what comes next.
We design places people remember.
Places to belong.
Places to return to.
This is not architecture as a service.
It is fundamental / integral.
A way of crafting our future.
Ideas are not inherited whole. They are tested, transformed, and reassembled. History, craft, research, and innovation converge — producing work that is neither purely rooted nor purely new, but alive with both.
We learn through making. We refine through iteration. Creative curiosity over fixed answers. The act of building is itself a way of knowing — not just executing ideas, but discovering them.
The urge to advance. Progress is not a style — it is a responsibility. A way of asking better questions, pushing beyond the expected, and shaping what comes next. Always forward.
Ariadna leads creative direction and design strategy across architecture, interiors, and environmental design. Her work is rooted in materiality, tactility, and atmosphere — crafting environments that balance clarity and emotion.
Before co-founding the London studio, she worked with Heatherwick Studio and Architecture at Large in New York, contributing to cultural and commercial projects that bridged architecture, art, and design.
Beyond the studio, she draws from art, fashion, and performance. As a flamenco dancer, she brings the same precision and emotional honesty to her architecture: precise, human, quietly resonant.
Content to follow.
Leo leads design across architecture, environments, and objects. His practice combines structural ambition with material intelligence — precision at every scale, from building systems to surface detail.
Trained in computational design at Zaha Hadid Architects, Coop Himmelblau, and Plus Architecture, he brings digital fabrication and hands-on craft to complex built environments.
Outside the studio, Leo sails — a discipline that sharpens a hands-on understanding of structure, force, and material in the world as it actually is.

blng studio builds on a family practice founded in 1955 in Kassel, Germany. Across three generations, the Bieling name has stood for rigour, craftsmanship, and precise delivery — values that continue to define the studio today.
This ongoing story is part of a 70-year dialogue on how design can endure, connect, and elevate daily life — each generation interpreting these principles through their own time, scale, and vision.
Prof. Thomas Bieling
2nd GenerationSucceeding his father in 1988, Prof. Thomas Bieling led the practice through a period of prolific expansion — extending its reach across Germany and Central Europe. His work is marked by a refined, contextual, and expressive architectural sensibility that positioned the studio at the forefront of design dialogue in Germany.
As Professor of Design and Construction at the University of Kassel, Thomas championed the integration of creative inquiry and technical precision — shaping a generation of architects and bridging craft, discipline, and innovation in a body of work that continues to influence the practice today.
Josef Bieling
FounderFounder Josef Bieling established a reputation for craft, faith, and clarity of construction — pioneering the aesthetic of post-war modernism in Germany. He designed more than 40 churches, community, and residential buildings distinguished by their material honesty and spatial calm.
In close intellectual exchange with Pritzker laureate Gottfried Böhm, his approach combined human dignity with architectural precision — laying the foundation for a practice rooted in care, purpose, and enduring craft.
